Puzzle 564: Pearls of Wisdom 52
Fans of the classic game Chip's Challenge, rejoice! The author of that game, Chuck Sommerville, is creating a PC port of the game's spiritual sequel Chuck's Challenge! Do you have a Steam account? Please join me in giving Chuck's Challenge 3D a thumbs-up vote to increase the game's chances of being made available on Steam! I supported the game on Kickstarter, and I would like it to achieve success! :)

Puzzle 552: Pearls of Wisdom 51
I recently received a monetary donation from Jon Michelson, and have decided to make some puzzles for him even though he didn't ask for any. This is the first of three.

Monday Mutant 108: Pearls of Wisdom (total / minesweeper)
In this Pearls of Wisdom
puzzle, there are no clues inside the grid. Instead, you are to both
draw a loop and place black pearls and white pearls in every cell
that could legally contain one. A number represents how many pearls are
in cells which share a corner or an edge with the cell containing the
number; the loop may not pass through a cell containing a number.
Boy, is it ever Monday. I had prepared a completely different puzzle this past Sunday, but after test-solving it and modifying it, I decided it didn't belong here on the blog. Maybe I'll let the winners of Letting Individuals Think Separately have a look at it. . . :)

March Mutant 15: Straight and Arrow / Pearls of Wisdom (total blacks)
In this Straight and Arrow puzzle, the loop may pass through a black cell, but only if it turns in that cell, and goes straight through both adjacent cells in the loop (as though passing through a black pearl in Pearls of Wisdom). All such cells (where the loop turns in that cell and goes straight through both adjacent cells) must be black. The other rules regarding black cells still apply.

Monday Mutant 102: Pearls of Wisdom (optional whites)
In this Pearls of Wisdom puzzle, the loop does not have to pass through the white circles; however, when it does pass through a white circle, it must obey the standard rules for white circles.
Lest the African-American community deem me racist for posting a puzzle that suggests that black circles, and black people by inference, are optional. . .

Monday Mutant 92: Pearls of Wisdom (total / Hanjie)
In this Pearls of Wisdom puzzle, there are no clues inside the grid. Instead, you are to both draw a loop and place black pearls and white pearls in every cell that could legally contain one. Numbers to the left of a row or above a column represent the groups of consecutive cells containing pearls which are in that row or column. For example, a clue of "3" means the row or column has three consecutive pearls, and a clue of "3 1" means that the row or column has a group of three consecutive pearls followed by a single pearl, separated by at least one cell without a pearl. A question mark (?) represents a group of consecutive pearls whose size is unknown; an asterisk (*) represents any number of unknown groups of pearls, including none at all.
I have thus far received 13 votes in Logicsmith Exhibition 5. Keep those votes coming!
I have also submitted my no-longer-prototypical abstract strategy game Battle of LITS to a contest being held by Spain-based game publisher nestorgames on BoardGameGeek. If you have a BoardGameGeek account and would like to see my two-player adaptation of a Japanese logic puzzle published with quality components, please consider thumbing my post to make this prospect possible! :)

Monday Mutant 89: Pearls of Wisdom (torus)
In this Pearls of Wisdom puzzle, the grid is a torus; the left and right edges "wrap around" as shown, as do the top and bottom edges. The rules are otherwise unchanged.
Puzzle Communication Nikoli 133 has four pages of toroidal puzzles, including a toroidal Kakuro, a toroidal Slitherlink, a toroidal Yajilin, and two toroidal Akari. I thought it was pretty impressive how they were able to present the grid in such a way that the gimmick was apparent even to me who can't read Japanese; the presentation of this puzzle is inspired by theirs.

My most sincere apologies for this week's Monday Mutant being late; I already have at least one other Monday Mutant prepared, though, so this lateness won't be repeated next week. :)

Monday Mutant 67: Pearls of Wisdom (alternate truths/lies)
In this Pearls of Wisdom puzzle, some of the pearls are lying, and are the wrong color (that is, the pearl is black when it should be white, or vice versa). The loop must alternate between lying pearls and truthful pearls. The rules are otherwise unchanged.

Monday Mutant 59: Pearls of Wisdom (jigsaw)
In this Pearls of Wisdom puzzle, you must assemble the grid from the given pieces before you can solve the puzzle. None of the pieces may be rotated, and no two pieces may overlap; the pieces will fill the entire grid. The thick borders on the pieces must coincide with the perimeter of the grid. The rules are otherwise unchanged.
It's the first Monday Mutant of the new year! Hard to believe I've kept this series up for so long.
